The Capacity Planner will work closely with the Sorting Center management team, as well as the Long-Term Planning (LTP), Middle Mile, Fulfillment Centers, and Supply Chain teams, to integrate capacity planning into broader business and operational strategies.
Key job responsibilities
- Develop and maintain accurate forecasting models to predict sortation volume, labor requirements, and resource needs for the assigned sorting center, incorporating inputs from the LTP team and supply chain data;
- Analyze historical performance data, productivity trends, and industry benchmarks to identify opportunities for enhancing labor efficiency, improving process workflows, and optimizing resource allocation;
- Collaborate with the Sorting Center Site Manager, operations team, and PXT to develop and implement workforce planning strategies, including headcount management, shift scheduling, and training programs;
- Leverage advanced analytics, simulation tools, and automation solutions to optimize labor utilization and overall productivity at the sorting center;
- Serve as a strategic partner to the Sorting Center management team, providing data-driven recommendations on capacity planning, capital investment, and long-term expansion initiatives;
- Coordinate with the LTP and Supply Chain teams to align the sorting center’s capacity plan with the organization’s broader network strategy, inventory management, and transportation plans;
- Monitor and report key performance indicators related to labor productivity, operational efficiency, and cost optimization, driving continuous improvement initiatives;
- Identify and champion the implementation of innovative capacity planning technologies, such as workforce management systems and AI-powered forecasting tools;
- Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in logistics capacity planning to ensure the sorting center’s strategies remain competitive and adaptable.
Basic Qualifications
- Program or project management experience;
- Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams;
- Experience defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics;
- Bachelor’s degree;
- Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL;
- Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering;
- Shop floor experience is relevant;
- Experience driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership;
- Experience driving process improvements;
- Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization;
- Experience building processes, project management, and schedules.
