- Lead & coach others to integrate stratigraphic, sedimentological, structural, geophysical and geochemical evaluations to evaluate the petroleum system(s) to generate new Play ideas and Lead portfolios;
- Deliver as an individual contributor, and through coaching of others & QC, evaluations that capture the full range of subsurface realisations through leverage of geological uncertainty to produce alternative success and failure case realisations that honour the data and are supported by relevant analogues and exploration history;
- Provide expertise to well-owners to integrate geological, geophysical and input from other disciplines into well design and operations geology;
- Recognised as a technical expert in one (or more) areas. Diagnoses and solves significant, complex and non-routine problems; translates practices from elsewhere (across the Company and industry) and provides authoritative, technical recommendations which have a significant impact on business performance in short and medium term. Actively identifies new approaches that enhance efficiency and the business impact of the sub discipline;
- May represent the Company as the authority in the defined area and acts as a role model to develop future talent within this area. May be a TA2 level and/or an SME/PTE.
- Responsible for HSSE Risk Management and leading changes in Safety Culture. Actively drives Safety Leadership, Sub-surface Process Safety and operational/contractor HSSE, influencing decision makers to achieve improved safety outcomes.
- Lead coach & provides inspiration for geoscience staff. Coaches and inspires a broad range of stakeholders.
- Leads the design, planning and management of multiple, often simultaneous Exploration projects, including integration with relevant technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Budget information
- May have a limited number of direct reports (typically 1-2).
- Manages the relation with a large variety of (groups of) internal and external stakeholders on tactical/strategic level. Scale and severity of consequences if things go wrong are moderate/high and involve complex stakeholder management.
What is the role?
Typically as a Principal Exploration Geoscientist (Supervisor) you are to
- Manages specific technical/discipline activities for an asset or country OR delivers parts of larger projects or full end-to-end for smaller studies/projects with a clearly defined scope. The role involves working both as an individual contributor and as a subsurface project leader of a team of geoscientists, and sometimes other discipline staff.
- Responsible for QC and endorsement of team deliverables, and adherence to relevant technical and process safety standards.
- Typically at EC-5, reporting to a team leader. Delivers specific projects and signals shortcomings and inconsistencies in policies and procedures, making suggestions for improvements.

What We Need From You
- Must have legal authorization to work in Brazil on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
- Must have a Bachelor’s in Geology or Geophysicist. Degree. A Master’s/PhD Degree is an added advantage.
- A subsurface professional with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
- Good knowledge of Regional Geology
- Knowledge of Pre-salt and Post-salt
- Knowledge of tools such as GeoX, Petrel and a like
- Knowledge of 2D/3D seismic interpretation
