OVERALL PURPOSE: The primary objective of the Regional Head is to develop and implement GARDP regional access strategy for the Latin American region and represent GARDP in the region. The Regional Head will work with GARDP staff across different functional teams and across offices to ensure that the project objectives are developed and met in a timely fashion and within budget. The position will also support communications and coordination with a number of external partners and actors. Strong strategic planning and communication skills, the ability to work well with multiple teams, and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities will be key qualifications for this role. This individual will also be responsible coordinating multiple operational and programmatic components. S/he will have experience supporting complex public health projects, as well as the ability to translate lessons from country implementation to a global context. While the incumbent will support regional access planning and implementation across all GARDP portfolio products, there will be a particular focus on cefiderocol in the initial years. Within the serious bacterial infections portfolio, GARDP is working alongside partners to improve access to cefiderocol, an important antibiotic for antibiotic resistant infections that is approved by the UFSDA and European Medicines Agency (EMA), by enabling sustainable and affordable quality product supply, working with national actors to plan and support responsible introduction and roll out, and build evidence for optimal use, especially in low- and middle-income country contexts. The Regional Head will report to Director, Global Access and will work closely with the GARDP drug project teams. The incumbent will be embedded in the DNDi Latin American office in Rio de Janeiro and the regional DNDi access team. TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Represent GARDP in the LATAM Region liaising with relevant staff in GARDP Geneva Lead on establishing and maintaining partnerships in the region with countries and key institutions Lead national and regional implementation of access activities for all GARDP projects, with an initial focus on cefiderocol Lead the translation of the global access strategy of cefiderocol and other GARDP portfolio assets into regional and national access plans, in coordination with the relevant project team, including support for forecasting, partnering for diagnostic strategies, stewardship, and phased introduction of product Map and maintain relationships with key access stakeholders, including in both the public sector and private healthcare providers in close coordination with the Director, Global Access Liaise with Ministries of Health to support updating of relevant guidelines, implementation strategies, and development of trainings Develop and coordinate demonstration projects for product introduction Document and disseminate best practices and challenges in providing access to antibiotics for serious bacterial infections in the Latin American region Manage GARDP access implementation partners across the region for SBI products With R&D, assess local evidence generation needs to support implementation and optimal use of GARDP portfolio products Support identification of partners for research projects (operational research, cost effectiveness research) in collaboration with the R&D team LIAISE WITH THE BD TEAM TO: Understand Latin American business dynamics and the competitive market landscape relevant to GARDP programs/products (pricing, positioning, business strategy, &), Gather key business insights to capture the reality of the markets for all GARDP programs/products, Map the landscape of global/regional/local distributor players in GARDP early adopter countries in Latin America, Support the BD team to create a network of potential distributor players, Support negotiation with the distribution partners, Develop the appropriate tools to ensure a good reporting (KPIs, frequency, &) PROVIDE PROJECT MANAGEMENT LEADERSHIP THE CEFIDEROCOL PROJECT, AND OTHER ACCESS WORK ACROSS THE GARDP PORTFOLIO, INCLUDING: Adapt project plans, Gantt charts to the regional context for all access projects Provide regular updates on progress, challenges, deliverables to cefiderocol and other relevant project teams Support monitoring of implementation, timelines, milestones and deliverables Coordinate and develop supporting materials for regular project meetings, including quarterly project reviews Support development and updating of and budgets Support project communications Support development of internal and external reports, in close collaboration with communications colleagues Coordinate strategic information sharing, communication, connection, and coordination among GARDP teams and with external partners Provide support for the production of power point presentations and other public presentations of the project Maintain a calendar of significant regional/local events and conferences for the project team Attend and produce summary notes for select regional/local meetings and conferences Administrative tasks Support meeting planning, including scheduling and agenda planning Requirements The Regional Head will be thoroughly committed to GARDPs strategy and mission.
